Funny how a quick post can take on a life of its own.
Back in November I blogged on a great, new (and free) iPhone application Kizoom MyRail Lite.
Nothing to do with how I make a living, just an interesting (to me) bit of info. Not only did that post bring in quite a bit of traffic, I started to get asked why it had been ‘dropped’ from iTunes. News to me…
A quick call to Kizoom shed some light on the disappearance – they had pulled it for ‘legal reasons’ and it had not, as some Internet gossip would have it, been dropped by Apple/iTunes. Here’s Kizoom’s official statement:
‘We took the difficult decision to withdraw it from the store for legal reasons. We very much hope that MyRail Lite will be back in the App Store in the future.
MyRail will continue to be reliable. The service will not cease in the short term and we are working on securing its long term future. Should there be a disruption to the service we will endeavour to contact customers as soon as possible.’
So if you were lucky enough to get MyRail Lite on your iPhone before it went walkies from the App Store, it’ll continue to work. For the unfortunates, you’ll have to wait.
As you’d expect, Kizoom is keeping quiet on the specifics of the legal wrangling but it would be a shame if this doesn’t get resolved quickly – they seem like nice people with a great app that I think would be in demand even if it wasn’t free.
